Priority

URBAN HEALTH PRIORITY
Why do we work with urban communities?
By 2050, two-thirds of the world’s population are expected to live in urban areas, with low- middle income countries driving this growth. If we want to effectively tackle the growing urban health burden and issues associated with urban environment, urban heath programs play a fundamental role in strengthening health system.

Build community-led urban health care solutions

With most of the urban growth expected to take place in low- and middle-income countries, we believe urban slums provide a unique ecosystem to test and drive innovation in urban health care for vulnerable—meeting people’s needs from the ground up.

Support health system strengthening

Urban Health Program is an ideal entry point to strengthen and build the resilience of health systems. Through an innovative approach, we support urban vulnerable communities in implementing changes that can be scaled up and replicated across health services.

Strengthening health care delivery system

Providing technical expertise to support the planning, design and implementation of quality assured and standardised urban health care solutions.

Catalysing health financing

Supporting the development of smart, data-driven investment strategies and providing tools to support local decision makers in allocating resources and leveraging opportunities for external funding.

Strengthening leadership and governance

Connecting and activating stakeholders to build an enabling environment for sustainable health care solutions including policy and regulatory changes.

Improving health information system

We work with urban community stakeholders to develop tools and guidelines, including digital to enhance the availability, quality, sharing of data and insights, and to strengthen evidence based health practices.

Responsible data framework

Responsible data framework is designed to meet these needs. It facilitates a common understanding of data quality, sets out the procedures and processes for good data quality management, and establishes the core criteria by which all information should be analysed.

Digital health solutions for women by women

The breath-taking leaps being made in healthcare technologies are transforming the way that healthcare providers deliver care – and how patients, particularly women, access support and treatment.
Digital health solutions not only offer benefits in terms of efficiencies, convenience, and cost savings, it also presents a compelling opportunity to empower women to take their health into their own hands.

Ensure local ownership and sustainability

We invest in enhancing connections between people, policies and processes to build capacity and resilience. We convene policy makers, healthcare providers, patient groups and partners, creating communities to support the journey to self-reliance.
